While it might not be as sprawling and fancy as the other homes of Elton John, the singer just spent millions on it! Why? Well, it’s right next door to his current house!
Elton John’s New Estate
Sir Elton John does not play around when it comes to real estate! As soon as he saw his next-door neighbor put up a For Sale sign, he knew he wanted to buy the house. And, of course, since the housing market has blown up during the coronavirus pandemic, it made it easier than ever! In the end, John had to plop down a whopping $8.5 million for his neighbor’s house, but we’re sure he was happy to spend it. After all, he’s worth an incredible $500 million! Now, rather than just a half an acre of land, John has nearly a full acre to play with.
While the deal was completed off-market, we do know a few things about the house. It’s a single single-story mid-century modern building created back in the ’60s. On the outside, at least, the gate home does not really seem in John’s style. The exterior appears quite plain and boring, with a mustard yellow paint job all over. However, it seems that the former owners did not care much for the home either, as they rarely changed it and faced foreclosure on the house multiple times. Now, we’re sure they are happy to have it off of their hands. We cannot wait to see what John does with the property!
Of course, there’s a reason that John needs more space than ever…
Adding Next Door Neighbor’s House To The Portfolio
For those that do not know, Sir Elton John has decided to essentially retire from the stage to spend more time with his husband, filmmaker David Furnish, and their two children Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John. However, unlike many other families, John and Furnish will have plenty of opportunities to raise their children in a variety of homes.
John, 74, and Furnish, 58, boast one of the most significant property portfolios in all of the entertainment industry, with homes spread all across the world. As you might imagine, the couple and their children split their time between their vast estate outside of London and their now two-house Beverly Hills compound. However, they also have large homes in both Venice, Italy, and the south of France, as well as a home-sized condo in the middle of Atlanta, Georgia.
Before picking up their massive home in Beverly Hills, Furnished and Sir John lived in the iconic Sierra Towers skyscraper, which towers over the Sunset Strip in Los Angeles. There, the pair owned two apartments side-by-side – it seems they really like to spread out! So what property will Sir Elton John buy next? We don’t know, but we’re sure it will be fantastic!
