In case you didn’t know, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi are two of the most famous house flippers in all of Hollywood. Just recently, the pair sold yet another house, this time to pop star Ariana Grande!
Ellen DeGeneres: House Flipper
Never ones to hold on to a house for too long, DeGeneres and de Rossi have flipper over five homes in the past decade in Tinseltown. Just this month, the couple managed to find a buyer for their latest sell, a mansion worth $7 million: pop star Arian Grande! The one-of-a-kind, English Tudor-style home is located in Montecito, California, near Santa Barbara.
The mansion, which sits at 5,500-square feet, cost the television couple only $3.6 million, meaning they nearly doubled their money on the sale, thanks to a few renovations over the years. Way to go DeGeneres and de Rossi! Let’s take a look inside Grande’s new digs…
Ariana Grande’s New House
Believe it or not, the property, known as Porter House, actually began as two barns in England way back in the 1700s! So, how did it get to Montecito? Well, the barns were so exquisite and unique that an art dealer actually had them transported and reset in California. From there, designers eventually assembled into one property! Now, it serves as a cabin-esque oasis far away from the bustle of Los Angeles.
Not meant as a permanent residence for the pop star, the Montecito home has just two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Additionally, the home has a library, two living rooms, and a beautiful patio that looks out onto the mountains. Needless to say, this seems like a perfect, cozy getaway. However, that did not stop DeGeneres and de Rossi from adding their own flair to the home…
Renovations
According to insiders, the first thing that DeGeneres and de Rossi did was add a new kitchen and pantry. Alongside the renovations, they made it more futuristic and convenient with the latest security, climate, and entertainment equipment. Meanwhile, they carefully maintained all of the home’s five fireplaces. Five!
However, DeGeneres did not stop there. She actually installed a second kitchen, this one with a modern snack bar and a “glass-fronted refrigerator that easily cost more than a base model BMW 3-series.” Still, even with all these additions, real estate experts still expect that the television star made quite a bit on the sale to Grande.
On To A Brand New Home
Of course, DeGeneres and de Rossi have plenty of other places to live. In fact, they own another home in Montecito! The couple picked another mansion up there last year, a Balinese-inspired palace that cost them a whopping $27 million. Still not satisfied, the couple snatched up a plot of land next to their new complex at the start of 2020 for another $1.9 million.
Currently, the couple is riding out quarantine in their 1930s English Tudor villa in Los Angeles, which they purchased from Adam Levine. Hopefully, they will return to their house-flipping ways once the pandemic is over!
